ICES advises that when the MSY approach is applied, catches from the Division 7.d plaice stock in 2022 should be no more than 6365 tonnes. This corresponds to catches of plaice in Division 7.d of no more than 7566 tonnes in 2022, assuming the same proportion of the Division 7.e and Subarea 4 plaice stocks is taken in Division 7.d as was estimated during 2003–2020. Management should be implemented at the stock level. ICES notes the existence of a precautionary management plan, developed and adopted by one of the relevant management authorities for this stock

Projected catches in 2022 relative to ICES estimates of catches in 2020 (3629 tonnes).
#
All plaice in Division 7.d, including plaice originating from the North Sea and the western English Channel, according to a ratio calculated over the years 2003–2020: 15.88% of the plaice landed in Division 7.d is assumed to originate from the North Sea and the western English Channel, and this is added to the predicted values for the Division 7.d plaice stock. The ratio is applied to total catch, projected landings, and projected discards.
