Please note: the present advice replaces the advice given in June 2021 for catches in 2022 and is a response to a non-recurrent request from EU.ICES advises that when the EU multiannual plan (MAP) for the Western Waters and adjacent waters is applied, catches in 2022 that correspond to the F ranges in the plan are between 7547 tonnes and 14 429 tonnes. According to the MAP, catches higher than those corresponding to FMSY (10 689 tonnes) can only be taken under conditions specified in the MAP, while the entire range is considered precautionary when applying the ICES advice rule.

Flandings and Fdiscards were calculated using the ratios of the projected landings and discards (Flandings = Ftotal*landings/catch; Fdiscards = Ftotal*discards/catch).
