ICES advises that when the EU multiannual plan (MAP) for Western Waters and adjacent waters is applied, catches in 2021 that correspond to the F ranges in the MAP are between 4703 tonnes and 5916 tonnes, assuming recent discard rates. The entire range is considered precautionary when applying the ICES advice rule. To ensure that the stock in Functional Unit 12 is exploited sustainably, management should be implemented at the functional unit level. Note: This advice sheet is abbreviated due to the COVID-19 disruption. The previous advice issued for 2020 is attached as Annex 1.
