ICES advises that when the EU multiannual plan (MAP) for Western Waters and adjacent waters is applied, catches in 2021 that correspond to the F ranges in the MAP are between 1682 tonnes and 1710 tonnes, assuming recent discard rates. The entire range is considered precautionary when applying the ICES advice rule. To ensure that the stock in functional units 20 and 21 is exploited sustainably, management should be implemented at the level of the combined functional units 20 and 21. Note: This advice sheet is abbreviated due to the COVID-19 disruption. The previous advice issued for 2020 is attached as Annex 1.
