ICES advises that when the Norwegian management plan is applied, catches in 2023 should be no more than 226 794 tonnes. Bycatches of coastal cod and golden redfish (Sebastes norvegicus) in fisheries targeting saithe in subareas 1 and 2 should be kept as low as possible.

Catch advice is based on an average of a three-year catch forecast using FMP. The relevant predicted catches are 275 058 tonnes (2023), 229 797 tonnes (2024), and 199 602 tonnes (2025) which give an average of 234 819 tonnes. The advice is constrained by the stability clause of 15% which reduces this to 226 794 tonnes.
