Advice Sentence

ICES advises that when the maximum sustainable yield (MSY) approach is applied, catches should be no more than 41 tonnes in each of the years 2025 and 2026. If discard rates do not change from the average of the last five years (2019–2023), this implies landings of no more than 30 tonnes in each of the years. Management of the catches of skates and rays under a combined TAC prevents effective control of single-stock exploitation rates and could lead to overexploitation of some species.
