ICES advises that when the EU multiannual plan (MAP) for Western Waters and adjacent waters is applied, total removals in 2026 that correspond to the F ranges in the plan are between 6 423 tonnes and 7 618 tonnes. This applies to the sum of the commercial and recreational catches (accounting for survival of released fish). A proportion of the catch of the Bay of Biscay sea bass stock is taken in divisions 4.b–c and 7.a.d–h, where it mixes with the local stock. This should be taken into account when defining management actions to avoid exceeding the advice for any of the stocks.

##
SSB 2027 relative to SSB 2026
###
Advice values for 2026 are relative to the corresponding 2025 values (MAP advice of FMSY × SSB2025/MSYBtrigger = 2631 tonnes and FMSYlower × SSB2025/MSYBtrigger = 2241 tonnes, respectively; all other values are relative to FMSY)
^
EU multiannual plan (MAP) (EU, 2019).
^^
Projected catches for sea bass caught in divisions 8.ab in 2026 are calculated as the total catch advice for the stock (7618 tonnes for FMSY scenario) reduced by the projected catch of the bss.27.8ab stock to be taken in divisions 4.b–c, 7.a and 7.d–h when fishing at the fishing mortality for each scenario (1347 tonnes for FMSY scenario).
^^^
This scenario implies zero fishing in divisions 4.b–c, 7.a and 7.d–h in the third and the fourth quarter.
