ICES advises that when the maximum sustainable yield (MSY) approach is applied, catches in 2026 should be no more than 56 520 tonnes. Management of the catches of southern horse mackerel, blue jack mackerel, and Mediterranean horse mackerel under a combined total allowable catch (TAC) prevents effective control of the single-species exploitation rates and could lead to overexploitation of any of these species.
