ICES advises that when the maximum sustainable yield (MSY) approach is applied, catches in 2027 should be no more than 34 245 tonnes. ICES notes the existence of a precautionary management plan, developed and adopted by one of the relevant management authorities for this stock. Management of white-bellied and black-bellied anglerfish under a combined species total allowable catch (TAC) prevents effective control of the single-species exploitation rates and could lead to the overexploitation of either species. Management should be implemented at the stock level.

The probability of SSB being below Blim in 2028. This probability relates to the short-term probability of SSB Lt Blim and is not comparable to the long-term probability of SSB Lt Blim tested in simulations when estimating fishing mortality reference points.
