ICES advises that when the EU multiannual plan (MAP) for Western Waters and adjacent waters is applied, total removals in 2027 that correspond to the F ranges in the plan are between 5975 tonnes and 7088 tonnes. This applies to the sum of the commercial and recreational catches (accounting for survival of released fish). A proportion of the catch of the Bay of Biscay sea bass stock is taken in divisions 4.b–c and 7.a.d–h, where it mixes with the local stock. This should be taken into account when defining management actions to avoid exceeding the advice for any of the stocks.

Footnotes
*
The probability of SSB being below Blim in 2028. This probability relates to the short-term probability of SSB <; Blim and is not comparable to the long-term probability of SSB <; Blim, fishing mortalities less than FPA have been shown to have less than 5% probability of the stock being below Blim in the long term when tested through simulations when estimating fishing mortality reference point.
**
The probability is not exactly 0.50 because of the asymmetric error distribution.
#
Includes commercial landings, recreational kept, commercial discards, and recreational dead released, computed assuming 5.00% post-release mortality.
##
SSB 2028 relative to SSB 2027 (28 268 tonnes)
###
Advice values for 2027 are relative to the corresponding 2026 values (FMSY 7 618 tonnes, FMSYlower 6 423 tonnes; all other values are relative to the FMSY scenario; for sea bass caught in divisions 8.a–b, they are relative to the corresponding 2026 values in the area 8.a–b (FMSY 6271 tonnes, FMSYlower 5286 tonnes); all other values are relative to the FMSY scenario for divisions 8.a and 8.b
^
EU multiannual plan (MAP) (EU, 2019).
^^
This scenario implies zero fishing in divisions 4.b–c, 7.a and 7.d–h in the third and the fourth quarter.
